A long time dream of mine turned into reality!

A huge thank you to Rose for providing the horses and trailering to make this happen! The two equine models were Diva and Jasper. It was a perfect day with beautiful weather, and I am thrilled with the results. (Note: we had permission to bring horses to this beach).

We arrived early so that we could go for a little bareback hack on the beach before the shoot, me on Diva, Rose on Jasper. We scheduled for a Monday evening, which we thought would be a nice quiet time. Wrong! As it turned out, both of the bars that are at that section of beach had live bands, and the sand was crowded with people. For all the colorful umbrellas, flying beach balls, loud music, and people coming up trying to pet the horses, they were so well behaved, especially since this was Diva's first time at the beach! Quite the introduction!

Diva

Thoroughbred mare

Diva was a little apprehensive at first, but once she realized the lake wasn't going to eat her, she walked right in and even had a little splash. I only took a handful of photos of her and then we let her relax for the rest of the shoot, so as to not overwhelm her that evening.

Jasper

POA gelding

Jasper was having the time of his life, whether it was happily trotting and cantering on the lunge line, or stopping to stick his whole nose in the water. He was a star, and I couldn't have asked for a better model.

The sunset was gorgeous. Rosy pinks with hints of purple slowly deepened to fiery oranges as the sun lowered to the horizon. The silhouette photos are my favorites. Rose and Jasper slowly waded into deeper water, and I just captured as many moments as I could as the two interacted. They clearly adore one another.
