Susie Schoellkopf originally found Del Piero "Pete" for a family whose daughters rode at the Buffalo Equestrian Center/SBS Farms for many years prior. Pete's current owner Stephanie bought him in the fall of 2020, after he was coming back from an off-property lease. She jokes that he was her "COVID puppy" purchase. She also swears that Pete understands English, more than just basic horse commands. "He looks at us very knowingly when we're talking about him within earshot." Pete's favorite treats are Nature Valley oats n honey granola bars.
Stephanie's favorite memory with Pete is showing him at the World Equestrian Center Ocala, getting to ride in the beautiful rings, especially the stadium. He is an adult amateur hunter star, with lots of class wins and championship/reserve honors at WEC Ohio, Saratoga, Vermont, and the Buffalo International. He also took Stephanie to her first indoor final at the New England equitation/medal finals in 2022.
